Sora X Riku 14 - Apathy

There was a faint knock on Sora's bedroom door and in about 3 seconds the door was opened. Roxas stepped into Sora's room carrying a tray containing a soup bowl, spoon and a cup of milk. Sora, was lying on his bed staring at the closed curtains of his windows. He didn't bother to get up and open them, and even if he would have, he didn't want to see if it was a beautiful day.

Roxas placed the tray on Sora's nightstand and knelt down beside his brother.

- Sora… I brought you chicken soup… When you have eaten I can bring you some ice cream if you like… Roxas whispered softly.

- No thanks, Sora sighed not moving. He had becomen painfully thin in the last three months, when he and Riku hadn't been dating anymore. His weight-index had lowered from the healthy 21,5 to 16,2.

- Sora, you need to eat something. You have eaten less than you normally would ingest in two weeks in the last three months, Roxas stroked Sora's hair and pressed his chin on the edge of Sora's bed.

- …. maybe if I get thinner, I'll become prettier and he'll want me again…. No wait, he didn't want me at all, so… maybe if I get thinner he'll want me… Sora murmured and moved his gaze away from the closed curtains to the photo lying on his other nightstand. A photo of him and Riku.

- … Sora…. He hasn't even called. You need to forget him. He doesn't deserve your being sad over him.

Sora turned to face Roxas, staring at his brother with watery eyes.

- But I want him to deserve it….. He couldn't have lied about it all, right…. ? Surely he cared for even just a tiny moment……

- No, Sora… Even so, what he did to you is unforgivable and look at you. You're losing weight, like crazy and you just lie there all day, slowly vanishing… I can't let you do that, I'm sorry. I think I and Axel should check you in in a mental hospital… You'll get the help you need.

- They'll never let me out, you know… I'll never get better…. Because I'll never forget…. Sora spat out in a hushed voice.

- They will. You need to get better. I and Axel have tried, but we're failing at cheering you up, so maybe we should just leave it to people who can do it…

- Only Riku can make me feel better, so unless he's there to be my psychiatrist you can give up your hopes of me "cheering up", Sora stated. He was getting angry. But he was too tired to show it.

- … Well… If I make Riku come here, do you promise to get up from that bloody bed and smile a bit? Roxas on the other hand was getting desperate.

- … If he smiles at me… Nicely… Then I'll get up and smile a bit.. Sora promised and closed his eyes, breathing slowly.

Roxas left the room and went downstairs and in to the kitchen to grab the phone. He sat in Axel's lap, who was sitting before the kitchen table and dialled Riku's number.

- What are you going to do? Axel asked.

- I'm going to make Sora get up and smile a bit, Roxas said.

….. ring…….ring……ring…. "Hello?"

- Riku? It's Roxas. I need to talk to you.

"…. Roxas? Thank God! Look, my father keeps me locked into my room! He made me dumb Sora! He said he would hurt him, if I didn't… Help. Please. I'm sorry. Tell Sora I love him. Please. I love you and Axel and I love Sora the most and I'm so sorry, but I had no choice, just come and help me. Before father comes back. Please. Just hurry" Riku panicked.

- What? You're saying your father set this whole thing up? Sora hasn't eaten for three months for fucks sake, he's dying. Are you at home? We'll come get you, Roxas said to the phone.

"Yes, I'm home, fathers out and well, I don't know where mom is, but just come quick. Tell Sora I love him. Tell him that. Just come and get me out of here. I will make him eat again, if you do, I promise!" Riku pleaded.

- Okay, I'll tell Sora. We'll be there in 10 minutes or so, wait for us. We'll come and get you. Just, wait for us. See you soon, bye, with that the dirty-blonde hung up and ran upstairs.

- Sora! Sora! Riku said he loves you! I'll go get him now. He'll be here soon! His father made him do that to you, he didn't mean it! We'll go get him, wait for us! Roxas knocked on the brunettes door and just when he was about to leave the door to Sora's room was opened.

The brunette walked in the hallway and looked at his brother.

A curious smile curled up on his lips and he ran to hug Roxas.

- You're not lying, right?! He's really coming, is he? I'm so happy! Sora laughed between tears.

- I'm not lying, he's really coming. Wait here we'll be soon back, with Riku! Roxas promised to Sora with smiling eyes and he kissed his brother on the fore-head and ran downstairs. With Axel, they went from the door and Sora walked slowly downstairs and sat on the living room sofa.

- Riku's coming…. he smiled at himself and went to the photo-albums he and Roxas kept in the closet under the stairs. He chose an old album and searched through the pages until he found what he was looking for. He took the photo and went back to the sofa, looking at the photo of him, Roxas and Riku playing on the islands when they were all the age of four.

The door to Riku's house was not locked. Roxas and Axel let themselves in and headed for Riku's room. They saw it locked with a heavy lock.

- Riku, are you there?

- Roxas? You came! The key to that lock is under the tall lamp two meters to the left from this door.

Axel lifted to lamp and took the key. He tried it on the lock; perfect fit. He turned it and the door was opened.

Riku embraced Roxas and cried.

- Thank you, thank you, thank you! he exclaimed. When he released Roxas he hugged Axel too. – Didn't Sora come?

- No, he's at home waiting. We figured that if we'd have to fight your father, he would be too weak to fight back. He hasn't eaten after all, Axel explained and pulled Riku and Roxas with him out of the house.

They headed towards Soras and Roxas' home.

- Sora! Riku cried out in joy as he saw the small boy sitting on the sofa smiling softly.

Sora looked up and for that moment he thought he must've been dreaming. He pinched himself lightly.

It was not a dream.

Sora stood up and without second thought he ran to Riku's open arms.

After embracing for many moments Sora finally lifted his face from Riku's chest and kissed Riku like it would be his last chance to ever do that.
